
The Aims and Objectives of the Parliamentary Outreach Trust have been verified by the Charity Commission during the process of certifying us as a charity
They are:
1. To advance education and promote research for the public benefit in parliamentary and democratic structures and practices and to publish the useful results of such research to the public.
2. To advance citizenship by promoting public understanding of parliamentary and democratic processes and encouraging participation by the public in existing democratic processes.
3. To promote conflict resolution and reconciliation for the public benefit by increasing knowledge, skills and capacities of leaders, government and others who are in need of such skills
Provided that the activities shall be neutral, impartial and balanced.
The accompanying Code of Practice requires members, at all times, to:
- Conduct themselves so as to uphold the integrity, reputation and charitable objects of the Parliamentary Outreach Trust
- Disclose all financial transactions relating to the work and direct all through the Parliamentary Outreach Trust; keep records of both income and expenditure incurred wholly and necessarily in effecting the work; all expenses are expected to be incurred at the lowest reasonable rate (eg public transport unless practicality and security prevent this)
- Observe strict impartiality when promoting the Objects of the Parliamentary Outreach Trust
- Inform and educate in a disinterested manner about the development, practices, procedures and processes of Parliamentary democracy.
